Happy New Year, of Course!

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are ready for a year full of new adventures and learning.

Let’s start the year off on the right foot. This is my first author’s note of 2026, and I hope to have more time to write and share my thoughts with you.

2025 Recap

Last year was pivotal for me, Marcos Reyes (AstronautMarkus). I achieved several important milestones in both my career and personal life. Here are some highlights:

  • First Job as an IT Professional: During my summer break, I had the opportunity to do my internship at a sales company. Honestly, it was tough at first because I was assigned to work with something I really dislike: WordPress. After some negotiation and showing what I could do, I was given the chance to develop a program from scratch. It was a huge challenge and an invaluable experience.

Thanks to this, I made some friends and colleagues with whom I still keep in touch. Special shoutout to my coworker and friend Kiara, whom I met during that project and have since collaborated with on several others.

  • Graduation Portfolio: Another major achievement was completing my graduation portfolio—a challenging but rewarding project. At first, I tried to go solo, thinking I’d do better on my own than with a teammate who, while different from me, made a good team. In the end, I got a much tougher team, but that pushed me to give 100% and see the project through. Guess what? I passed with a perfect score for the entire semester.

  • Personal Growth: Beyond professional achievements, I also experienced significant personal growth. I learned to manage my time better, set clear goals, and maintain a healthier work-life balance (well, maybe not so much the last part).

  • New Skills: Throughout the year, I focused on learning new skills and technologies to improve as an IT professional. I started working more as a systems administrator and learned about containers, orchestration, and automation.

  • Community & Networking: I also made an effort to connect with other professionals in my field by attending conferences and events, and participating in online communities. This allowed me to learn from others and share my own experiences.

Projects for 2026

  • FumoIndex: Continue developing and improving FumoIndex, my encyclopedia/wiki project about “Fumo” plushies based on Touhou Project characters. I plan to add more content, enhance the user interface, and optimize site performance.

  • This Blog: Keep writing on my tech blog, sharing my experiences and knowledge in IT. I want to focus on topics like systems administration, web development, and emerging technologies.

  • ReyesHosting: A small business I started offering game servers in Chile through my VPS servers. I plan to expand this project by offering more services and improving the infrastructure.

Thank you for reading and joining me on this journey. I hope this year is as successful and fulfilling as the last.

Happy New Year to all!
