First App Release - Blog AstronautMarkus

"AstronautMarkus blog launch, technical details and features."
Published: September 30, 2025
I’m excited to announce the launch of the “AstronautMarkus” blog!
This project was one of those thoughts you have in the early morning: “Why not share my experiences and knowledge with the world?” After some technical dilemmas and design decisions, I’ve finally taken the leap and here we are.
Tech Stack
The blog is built with Astro, a tool that has allowed me to create a fast and efficient website. Originally it was going to have a Frutiger Aero aesthetic, using Tailwind CSS for styling. However, after seeing poor client-side performance, I decided to opt for a more minimalist and clean design.
Now I use Bulma CSS - the view isn’t the most epic, but at least it’s functional and fast with blue and white colors.
Initial Features
- Performance: Optimized to load quickly, ensuring a smooth experience for readers
- Responsive Design: Adapts perfectly to mobile and desktop devices
- SEO Friendly: Implemented SEO practices to improve visibility in search engines
- Varied Content: We start with blogs about computing, Linux, and networking. In the future we’ll see if I add more categories
- Easy to Navigate: Simple and functional design - press button, read blog, repeat
- Table of Contents Menu: A sidebar menu that allows navigation through post content, based on the markdown heading structure
- .gitignore Notes: All posts are ignored by GitHub, so I can write freely without worrying about version control, you need to put the markdown files on /src/pages/blogs/ before building the site to publish them.
Next Steps
Short Term
- More Content: I plan to add more articles and tutorials in the coming weeks
- Bug Validation: Although I’ve tested the blog extensively, there’s always room for improvements and corrections
Medium Term
- Dark Version: Implement a dark mode to improve the reading experience in low-light conditions
- Spanish Language: Although the blog is in English, I’m considering adding a Spanish version to reach a broader audience
I’m open to suggestions and comments, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any ideas or if you find any issues.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the content as much as I enjoy creating it!
A song for the occasion.
See you in the next post!
